George Formby was an apprentice jockey until the death of his singer/comedian father, thereafter deciding to pursue a similar career path. George, of course, would go on to scale greater heights than those achieved by his father, becoming a major vaudeville, film and recording star. Some of George's recordings were originally banned by the BBC because of their lyrical content, with 'When I'm Cleaning Windows' being banned because it was deemed voyeuristic! Despite the bans, George's songs have proved popular more than four decades after his death.
