This second vilume of Ticklin' The Ivories features a further twenty examples of some of the best piano led songs of the last century. As with Volume 1, we explore as wide a variety of musical styles and genres as is possible within the confines of twenty tracks. Whilst jazz is extremely well represented, we should not forget the honky tonk style that Winifred Atwell helped popularise during the 1950s. The track included here might be called 'Plink, Plank, Plunk' but her playing style was anything but! And 'Chopsticks' may be a tune that any would be pianist is expected to play at some point in their education, but in the hands of Liberace it takes on a different complexion. In fact, if any one track best describes the overall feeling of this album and its predecessor, it is Earl Hines' 'Fifty Seven Varieties', accomplished across forty tracks and two albums!
