Patti Page was the best selling female star of the 1950s, with many of her hits remaining popular over the ensuing decades. Perhaps best known for The Tennessee Waltz (which was the biggest hit of her career), Patti continued her career into the 1990s, although she ceased recording in 1968. The material presented on this album therefore is drawn almost exclusively from her 1950s heyday, albeit re-recordings of her better known repertoire, with something of a bonus track thrown in for good measure. A glance at the track listing reveals that Patti enjoyed sizeable hits with both mainstream pop and the occasional novelty item, with How Much Is That Doggie In The Window her best known song from this genre.
