Whilst the lounge and exotica market was undoubtedly dominated by American arrangers and conductors, there were one or two British counterparts that also contributed a number of valuable albums in the genre. Of these, Johnny Keating was perhaps the best known and, to an extent, the most successful. In addition, his work was invariably linked with the Phase 4 series, utilising the sound possibilities of the synthesizer and creating a much more encompassing sound. Temptations was originally released in 1962 and features Johnny working with strings, voices and a block of jazz instruments to create a uniquely different and superbly imaginative album. As with many of his recordings, there is the feeling that he has thrown just about every instrument into the mix, but this is an uncluttered and even understated recording.
