Neil Sedaka followed his 1961 album of covers (Circulate – Hallmark 711022) almost immediately with the release of Sings Little Devil & His Other Hits. As the title implies it included the hit Little Devil (#11 on the Hot 100), although Oh Carol would prove to be a bigger hit (#9). Those weren’t the only single lifts either, for in addition The Girl For Me, Going Home To Mary Lou, Stairway To Heaven, You Mean Everything To Me coupled with Run Samson Run and Calendar Girl all made appearances on 7”, with varying degrees of success. Of greater relevance is the fact that Neil and writing partner Howard Greenfield penned ten of the album’s twelve tracks, thus establishing themselves as one of the most successful writing partnerships of the era.
