Bobby Freeman’s name might not necessarily be familiar but his material certainly is; title track and American hit single Do You Wanna Dance did little here in Britain when it was originally released in 1958, despite having been a Top Five success on both the pop and R&B charts. Four years later, Cliff Richard and The Shadows recorded a cover, which was coupled with I’m Lookin’ At the Window and became a major British hit, peaking at #2. Meanwhile Jubilee Records had issued an accompanying Bobby Freeman album (which strangely omitted his follow up hit single), who quickly became a popular live draw thanks to his tours with the likes of Fats Domino and James Brown, among others.
